The winner of GSL is ... South Korea

It was a clash of giants. Rest of the World vs Korea.

World Team Championship League (this is the full name of the tournament) gathered eight top players from the rest of the world under the leadership of Dan "Artosis "Demkoski and an equally large representation of Korea led by Hong Seung " Cella "Pyo. That was the tournament Demonstration, because the "main" tournament was World Championship Seoul 2011. Competition took place on Korean system "best-of-one"- the winner stays ,the loser eliminated and the player takes his place next player from the team. The tournament was played over two days and the first one ended in favor of the rest of the world, mainly due to Sen and TT1. On the second day awaited us a pleasant surprise- White_Ra defeated MC ( He is the best player in the world!). Koreans should thank "July", who beat up to four opponents!

That was amazing. The level of the game was very close. Ultimately the rest of the world had to acknowledge the superiority of Koreans, but this event showed, that Rest of the world isn't better or worse than Koreans. In previous years, the Koreans smashed Rest of the world. Premiere in e-sport of Starcraft II gives hope to equal opportunities, because everybody starts from zero.

Day 1:

Rest of the World vs. South Korea
MorroW(RotW) 0 : 1 anypro(Korea) (map: Tal'Darim Altar)
Sen 1 : 1 anypro (Terminus RE)
Sen 2 : 1 MarineKing (Xel'Naga Caverns)
Sen 2 : 2 San (Metalopolis)
TT1 3 : 2 San Scrap (Station)
TT1 4 : 2 NaDa (Crossfire SE)

Day 2:

TT1 4 : 3 MC (Crevasse)
White-Ra 5 : 3 MC (Shakuras Plateau)
White-Ra 5 : 4 July (Scrap Station)
HuK 5 : 5 July (Xel'Naga Caverns
mOOnGLaDe 5 : 6 July (Metalopolis)
Jinro 5 : 7 July (Crevasse)
DIMAGA 6 : 7 July (Shakuras Plateau)
DIMAGA 7 : 7 IMmvp (Tal'Darim Altar)
DIMAGA 7 : 8 NesTea (Terminus RE)

If you want to see this matches , go to www.gomtv.net

Last time we was thinking about board, what do you think about it ? It is good idea or bad? -say in comments.

CompLexity add urb

The best Brazilian organization, CompLexity recently had problems with his Counter Strike team. Very poor performance on Intel Extreme Masters V caused the Bruno 'bit' Fukuda retraction. Since then, the team looked for the fifth player. Now,they have announced the addition of Matheus "urb" Oliveira from playArt.sp to their division.

The Brazilian talent had been on trial with the former FireGamers team for over two weeks, having helped them win the TEAMPLAY Summer 2011 online competition at the end of March. He had a chance to title Most Valuable Player of the Mega GamerHouse Acervus cup in September, which his then-team won against the likes of Made in Brazil and CNB-Gaming.

Urb will not fly with the rest of the team to Denmark, where coL will be at Copenhagen Games to play in the Counter-Strike: Source competition as part of their deal with TargetDown. The name of the first LAN event which the team will play with the new lineup has not yet been released.

CompLexity CS squad:

Matheus 'Urb' da Silva Oliveira
Gabriel 'FalleN' Toledo de Alcantara
Renato 'nak' Nakano
Bruno 'Bruno1j' Ono
Lincoln 'fnx' Lau

I can only wish them : hf&gl :)

Allen inactive in SK

Great loss for SK-gaming. Jimmy "allen" Allen (Sweden) has announced he will be going inactive from competitive play due to illness. The long time SK player last played with GeT_Right, RobbaN, f0rest and face on Intel Extreme Masters V European Championship. Even then he felt bad and said, that his skill in CS is lower. Allen joined to SK Gaming on July 17 in 2006 alongside Mattias "Snajdan" Andersen, being just 17-years-old. Since then he has attended many events and most of the time finished within the top five. He issued a statement:

"Hey guys! After almost 5 years in the SK hoodie I've decieded to become inactive until further notice. I haven't been feeling well lately due to a sickness that effects me in a negative way regarding Counter-Strike. I choose to play the IEM Euro Finals in January even though I didn't feel well and after that I realized I should take a break and focus on my illness for a while.

I hope to be back one day and I wanna thank SK Gaming and my lovely team-mates for some great years, and I wish them gl this year, I think they'll do really well. Sick lineup 2011.

I also wanna thank all my loyal fans, of course, for all the support during the years. It helped me a lot keeping myself motivated having you guys cheering me on. Hope you guys will still be out there if I do a comeback.

I guess you guys wanted me to explain more about my illness but I find that very hard, it's complicated. Sorry about that. But I'm sure I will be fine in reasonable time.
"

In recent months, allen was substituted by Dennis "dennis" Edman from RAGE Gaming. He was very good on Intel Extreme Masters Global Finals and He goes with SK Gaming to Denmark in Copenhagen Games in the second half of April. He is listed as the top candidate in allen's place in squad.

We must emphasize, that allen probably will come back to CS. He is one of the Counter Strike stars. Just look at the list of his achievements:

2007 SEC (1st)
2007 IEM II LA (2nd)
2008 IEM II Finals (4th)
2008 Kode5 Global Final (3rd)
2008 IEM III LA (1st)
2008 IEM III Montreal (2nd)
2008 WCG (2nd - Silver medal)
2008 DreamHack Winter (1st)
2009 EM III Global Finals (4th)
2009 ESWC Masters Cheonan (2nd)

Changes, changes, changes in... Iron Will

Now e-sport is very "dynamic" type of sport. We still have transfers, new teams are formed, old disappear. Often we hear about "gaming revolution", yet everything remains the same. It's hard to comprehend every change....

Changes no. 45918

One of the best Russian team, Iron Will have removed Viktor 'Sally' Filimonchenko and Boris 'Snoop' Podvalshchikov, replacing them with Vladimir 'VofkiN' Shmakov and Alexander 'Talisman' Talismanov.

The veteran duo has however not been kept in the lineup, as they were today removed. Filimonchenko and Podvalshikov were in fact statistically 2 of the 3 worst players at the ICS 7 (Intel Challange Supercu 7) event. Kiev competitions were to be a test for this 2 players ,who definitely did not pass. Iron Will must convince, that surnames don't play in team.

Vladimir 'VofkiN' Shmakov may be associated with a game in Russia national team. He didn't play in large organizations. Alexander 'Talisman' Talismanov was AWP player in semi-professional team- RuSh3D. May the team finally was able to stabilize, because castling is already underway since February.

Iron Will now:

-Aleksey "HEL1" Novikov
-Ivan "F_1N" Kochugov
-Alexey "LeX" Kolesnikov
-Vladimir "VofkiN" Shmakov
-Alexander "Talisman" Talismanov

Xperia PLAY 2011 Prelude

Hi,this week we held a European tournament -Xperia PLAY Prelude 2011. On Wednesday and Thursday there was eight, fascinating battles.

The first two battles took place at 19:

1. x6tence vs. empty - The Swedish team (empty), as usual, showed the Spaniards how to play CS 1.6. They won 2:0 (1st - de_inferno 6:16, 2nd - de_dust2 10:16)
2. RG-ENUZI vs. face!- Not this league , RG-ENUZI, not this league. face! won 2:0 (1st - de_train 16:10, 2nd - de_tuscan 16:9). Only "kale" defended his team's honor - see this action:

Next match: mTw vs. Gamerzone. Of course mTw won this battle 2:0 (1st - de_inferno 16:3, 2nd - de_train 16:9

4. Cheap Times! vs. munkka - It was very hard duel. They must play up to 3 maps. Unfortunately, young squad, Cheap Times! eventually lost in a clash with munkka 1:2 (1st - de_inferno 22:26, 2nd - de_train 16:5, 3rd - de_dust2 11:16). Cheap Times! defended very well. This is evidenced by this situation:

5. Moscow Five vs. X (former DG)- The Russians surely won against X. That was Own3d - 2:0 for Moscow Five (1st - de_inferno 16:1, 2nd - de_train 16:4).

6.dateam vs. deathwish- deathwish won 2:1 (1st - de_inferno 4:16, 2nd - de_train 16:9, 3rd - de_tuscan 23:26).

7.Online Kingdom.fi vs. eSrael - Israelis didn't have any chances. 2:0 for Finns ( 1st - de_dust2 16:14, 2nd - de_nuke 16:12).

8.SK Gaming vs. gatherproffs- The best battle of this week. Both sides played very well. However, the composition of CS 1.6 stars like GeT_Right or RobbaN must win. They defeated gatherproffs 2:1 (1st - de_train 16:6, 2nd - de_inferno 6:16, 3rd - de_dust2 16:12). We could see amazing actions both SK and gatherproffs :

What is your favorite to win?

Evil Genuses without Grubby

The best USA e-sport organization, Evil Geniuses parted with Manuel "Grubby" Schenkhuizen (Netherlands). Also, they closed the WarCraft III division indefinitely. The reason for departing legend of Warcraft was change in "direction" of the organization. They want to expand their team of Starcraft. Hmm, what's wrong? The official statement ignores the detail that besides Grubby plays in Starcraft 2. Tomorrow he will take part in the Major League Gaming Pro Circuit Dallas 2011, where he will compete with 256 other players for big cash prizes (the prize giving $ 5,000).

"I would like to thank EG for my time spent in the team. I wish everyone all the best in the future as well. Shout-out to EG.CS, been a pleasure getting to know you and hanging out together."- commented Grubby.

Interestingly, Evil Geniuses has not bad division of this game. They have DeMusliM, IdrA or iNcontrol. Wow , that was dreamteam...

Grubby joined EG in April of 2009 as a WarCraft III star. During his tenure he was able to place 1st at e-Stars Seoul 2009, 2nd at Blizzcon 2009, 1st at WEM 2009 and 2nd at WCG 2010.

He has been accepted into the NASL(North American Star League) and placed in Division 1, where he will meet former WC3 rival "Moon".

Universal Soldiers without CS division

One of the most popular team from Poland, Universal Soldiers has a serious crisis. Actually , he had crisis. Their squad of Counter Strike 1.6 ... doesn't exist. Let's start counting...

As the first of the team said goodbye to "Rulon" (He didn't play now). Next was "amateur". So 2 players went off. The headshot for US was the saying Snax's bye bye to BenQ.DELTAeSports. He was the best player and he "cheer" the whole team. Managers said " oh fuck". A question of time had its retraction of the young talent, "pistolero", who goes to another mid-team, MaxFloPlay. He said:

"I'm leaving the team because of personal problems, since rulon left we have not been able to play with good tactics."

The last US player, "break" go to CEFO (another polish organisation...). Then it happened, which nobody expected. CEFO's CS old division left this organization and they joined to Universal Soldiers (with "break" of course). What a lol...

Universal Soldiers 1.6 team:
-Wojtek "break" Paszkiewicz
-Jacek "minise" Jeziak
-Szymon "Simi" Łowczyński
-Bartek "MEGABARTEK" Grzywacz
-Jarek "Jaro" Kozłowski

If the Polish organizations will continue to exchange players from one team to another, they are not accounted any force against Frag-eXecutors. No comments...

Universal Soldiers are signed up for Xperia PLAY, but it is unknown whether the organisation still plans on sending a team to the event, which will take place from 21-24 April, after these changes. It's a pity, they played so well... here you have the proof of these words:

The next Legends of CS 1.6 returned!

Do you know Alchemist Unleashed?

This Norwegian team was one of the best team in CS. He was. A few days ago the organization released CS 1.6 division. Why? Well, the reason is unusual. Managers didn't like the attendance in squad three Swedish players. Too many Sweden (personally I have a neutral attitude to Sweden :P). The captain, Gunnar "zEn" Eng said:

"The decision to go each our own ways comes after a disagreement regarding the makeup and composition of the the team. It is important to note that there is by no means any "bad blood" between the organization and the players involved, but rather a natural consequence of irreconcilable differences on key issues", a statement reads.

Board Norwegians began patching holes on a grand scale. The beginning of dream team turned out to Preben "prb" Gammelsæter (Norway!). He was the part of the best cs teams like MYM or NoA. But that is nothing compared to Ola "elemeNt" Moum come-back. He was one of the best player. He won in the old days everything they could and became a national hero almost Norwegians. He was elite. Unfortunately, in 2008 he officially ended his career. Now, He returned. What will the result of these changes?

The team is according to a statement on their website, going to attend Xperia PLAY at Copenhagen Games, which could be the first and only, as the team is put together particularly for this event.

The lineup for the tournament is:

-Preben "prb" Gammalsæter
-Ola "elemeNt" Moum
-Thomas "DaY" Rudstrøm
-Tommy "syrtekz" Skoglund
-TBA

The best frags of Neo

Hi, sorry for a few days break, but I had no Internet.

HLTV.org and SK-gaming have published fragmovie about Neo. He is one of the best players in Counter Strike 1.6 with multiple wins. This polish player represents Frag-eXecutors (with pasha, kuben ,Loord and TaZ). We could see him inter alia on Intel Extreme Masters 5, Intel Super Cup 7 or Dreamhack series. Last he broke down after losing with Natus Vincere (they still lose with Natus Vincere :/) in ICS 7 grand final and rumored, that He end his career. I think it's false :)

Steelseries helps Japan

SteelSeries have announced that they will donate percentages of their next month's sales to help Japanese earthquake victims. We must know, that the earthquake in Japan killed over 8,800 people and the numbers are expected to rise significantly. The total recovery costs could reach $122 billion!! SteelSeries, whose design team collected inspiration from Japanese characters and culture, among other things, when naming their product line of gaming mice, have now decided to lend a hand to the victims affected by the recent catastrophes.

On the Steelseries website we can read:

"These influences were what made this SteelSeries product line the obvious category for this initiative. Throughout the next month, on every purchase of a mouse in the SteelSeries’ branded line of professional gaming mice, which include the 4 mice seen to the right, we will donate 25% of the proceeds to the Japanese Red Cross Society to aide in earthquake relief. We will also offer a 25% off discount of this product line in the SteelSeries Web Shop as an incentive to fuel our fundraising initiative. We hope our global community of gamers will help to drive this fundraising initiative or will aide in donations and support for victims by other means."

This gesture is to be applauded and should be replicated by other gaming companies.

Na'Vi won Intel Challange Supercup 7

Natus Vincere has won the Intel Challenge Super Cup 7 season with a 2-1 defeat of Frag eXecutors in the Grand Final. The season final took place at the Kiev CyberSport Arena, where Natus Vincere took on Frag eXecutors to decide the winner of the season. The first map -de_nuke is rarely combined with victory for the Ukrainians and this time should be a repeat of that scenario. Fx won 16-12 and took the lead before moving to second map- de_dust2.

Na´Vi once again proved capable of solid play on the Terrorists side on de_dust2, scoring an 11-4 lead at half-time. Fx then came from behind and evened out the match and it seemed like it could go either way in the end. It should however be Na´Vi to equalize to 1-1 in maps, as they picked up the final round to win 16-14 on de_dust2 and force a third and final map.

Switching to de_inferno, it was Fx who started out the better, getting a hold of 9 rounds as Terrorists. Just like on second map, it went down the wire to decide the winner of the map. In the very last round, Fx had the opportunity to bring the game to a tie, but the Polish team got denied by Na´Vi hot-shot Yegor "markeloff" Markelov, who won a 1-versus-4 situation to secure Na´Vi victory at ICSC7 finals, with a 2-1 score in maps.

Natus Vincere 2:1 Frag eXecutors
-12:16 nuke
-16:14 dust2
-16:14 inferno

That was probably the best action in ICS 7!!

With the third place decider seeing DTS come out on top two maps to none over KerchNET the latter ends their tournament on a down note, taking home no prize money despite single map victories over Na`Vi and FX earlier in the tournament.

Here you have general classification:

1. Natus Vincere - $5,000
2. Frag eXecutors - $3,000
3. DTS - $2,000
4. KerchNET

Lions without Counter Strike division??

The Swedish organization has big problem. They are on the brink of losing their Counter-Strike division. The Swedish team's contracts with Lions run until the end of the month, and it is believed the players are not interested in an extension after reportedly becoming unhappy with the organisation's lack of support. What's more, MYM who have been without a CS squad for a month, is very interested in Lions players. It would be next big change in CS world...

After a convincing first-place finish at ASUS Summer, the team has only captured silverware again just once, at the IOL 3 Finals, placing third at MSI Beat It, DSRack and DreamHack Winter and second at the EPS Nordic III finals. The team finished 5th-6th at the IEM5 European Championship and did not go beyond the group stage at the IEM5 World Championship.

Lions have had the team since August 2010. It will be great loss to the organisation, because They were among the favorites on Xperia PLAY tournament (Copenhagen Games 2011).

Lions CS team: Niklas "niko" Johansson, Frej "kHRYSTAL" Sjöström, Emil "FYRR73" Karlsson, Björn "threat" Pers and Rasmus "Gux" Ståhl.

Intel Challange Supercup 7 :1st day

Wow, this was very interesting day. After day 1 of the Intel Challenge Super Cup 7 LAN finals finished up with all of the six teams having played their five matches the four teams progressing on to tomorrow (today in Europe), and the playoffs, were Natus Vincere , Frag eXecutors , DTS and KerchNET .

All these teams played out today 5 big battles. That was the clash of giants :)

Frag eXecutors :

Poles started the day duel with Iron Will at eleven o'clock. They won with him 19-11 on de_nuke. The first 4 rounds practically influenced the result of the match. Iron Will players rarely invaded the situation. Iron Will traveled this event with hope, rather than expectation, having changed one player, and then re-added two others, but the former Virtus.pro line-up were simply miles away from the opposition, losing all five matches. The Frag eXecutors's domination in this match we can see on this video :)

The next match was with KerchNET. One word fits to describe this game: school. Why? This match was school for Frag-eXecutors,where they learned from KerchNET how to play on de_tuscan. Although they had nice actions like this:

... They gave this match 22-8 for KerchNET. Ukrainians were simply better in respect of mastery of the map.

The third match was a clash of the best European teams: Na'Vi and FX. A duel was so stubborn ,that it ended... draw. Both teams gave took 15 rounds. Uffff.

The fourth battle was very easy for FX. They played against USSR team. They won on de_dust 2 25-5 , crushing rival. USSR fared a little bit better than Iron Will, generally winning two matches, and they would have made it through had KerchNET not defeated Natus Vincere in the last group match.

The last duel was against DTS. Ukrainians didn't have ways to FX. Poles were more aggressive and "dynamic" . It was evident ,that Frag-eXecutors have trained that map after losing on IEM V final with Na'Vi. Gj boys :)

Natus Vincere :

The first match had to be very tough. Na'Vi faced with DTS. The Ukrainians (:D Na'Vi ofc) defeated Ukrainians 23-7 on de_dust 2. That was niiiiice.

Second duel was against USSR team. Once again, Na'Vi didn't give any chances to the opponent and won on de_tuscan 22-8.

The third match markeloff and others played against FX. They're tied with them. Uuuuh, downward trend, uuuuh :)

The fourth battle was played at four pm. The enemy was Iron Will. The Ukrainians won this rencounter 18-12 on de_train.

The last battle was the biggest surprise of the tournament. Na'Vi lost (they didn't win) with KerchNET!!! They lost (!!) 14-16 on de_inferno. Yes, they didn't win.

On this tournament Na'Vi had a great advantage over opponents. THEY HAD DARTH VADER ON TEAM:

KerchNET :

On 11 am B1ad3, bondik, cArsky, Krutoi and sozikzzz played against USSR team. Ukrainian-Russian duel ended up winning for the latter. USSR won 20-10 on de_inferno. They were more dynamic and had more skills :)

Next battle was against FX. As mentioned, they defeated Frag eXecutors 22-8 on de_tuscan.

In the 3rd match they were better than Iron Will. This time , the Ukrainians beat Russians 16-14 on de_nuke.

KerchNET winning once, losing once. Now they lost against their "brothers" , DTS. 11-19 on de_inferno for DTS... they were better tactically.

The last chance for advancement was the victory against Na'Vi. The playing of KerchNET was wonderful. 16-14 on de_inferno. GG :)

and the last team...

DTS.chatrix :

The young team was thrown to the lions Na'Vi. Oh, that was Own3d. 7-23 on de_dust 2. That wasn't fresh start in tournament...

Fortunately, in 2nd duel DTS met with Iron Will (read: whipping boys). They won surely 22-8 on de_inferno.

More Fortunately, the third match was against USSR team (read: second whipping boys). 17-13 on same map.

The Fourth battle they played against their native rivals, KerchNET. Good tactics and teamwork have been successful. They enjoyed the victory on ... you have to guess (A. de_inferno, B.de_inferno, C. on toilet)(17-13).

In bringing the lands of the DTS players have helped the Poles. Frag eXecutors won this match 18-12 on de_infe...train.

ICC semi-final pairings (20.3):
10am- Frag eXecutors vs. DTS
2pm- Natus Vincere vs. KerchNET

Could repeat the IEM 5 final duel (Frag eXecutors vs Na'Vi)? Well, in my opinion yes, because KerchNET and DTS are young teams and they can't withstand the pressures associated with the final. Beside this, FX and Na'Vi have the best players in the world, who as yet don't include the slip :)

And you, what is your favorite?

SK-gaming without dennis...

...temporarily. Dennis "dennis" Edman appears to have suffered a hand injury, but will nevertheless attend Xperia PLAY next month (ooooooh). The injury was sustained after Edman had punched a wall with his left hand, something which ultimately resulted in a broken pinky finger. Injuries like these are often followed by a minor operation, but dennis says he has no plans to undergo such a procedure and is set to drop his cast in one week's time. Funny in this situation is fact, that dennis substituted Jimmy "allen" Allen in SK at the IEM5 World Championship due to... Allen's sickness. Sk-gaming believes in dennis's very (very, very) rapid return. They have already registered him at Copenhagen Games. This is very important event for SK, because in tournament take part elite of CS 1.6 like mTw, fnatic, frag-eXecutors, eSahara, TCM-gaming and mousesport (great come-back? :D). They couldn't give points without a fight.

The Copenhagen Games Xperia PLAY tournament will cater for 48 teams, with 29 of those spots already filled. A prize pot of ~$28,000 is on offer, with the winning team taking home half of that.

Xperia PLAY attendance list:

-eSahara

-Frag-eXecutors
-SK Gaming

EGS- new e-sport project

Two Dutchmen: Bert Du Toy van Hees and Mike Slagmolen, came to the conclusion that they try to creatively exploit the potential of e-sport. Their creation is European Game Series. In addition to the tournament organization, it aims to do this, what many thought a long time - to unite professional gaming with television. At the beginning only in Netherlands, but later...

"EGS operates game content and competition on television and the Internet, featuring both paid and free online game competitions, as well as live gaming events on national and international TV channels. In this way, thus far undiscovered gaming talents on the internet will grow to become international TV stars. The best thing is - anybody can enter the competitive gaming scene."

The new Internet platform EGSonline.eu will allow the game audience to connect and play competitively on all major games. Soon we can access this platform on egsonline.eu and gameseries.tv ." [The websites need a little bit more time to go live.]

Interesting is also the attitude of creators to gaming:

"Games are not just playing for fun – we now have a matured eSports Market. We want to develop this market even further, and expand it to a type of World Wide Olympic level. The games market is the world's fastest growing market and offers space for creative ideas and spin-offs. [...] "

The creators of European Game Series promise, that soon we will provide details on the first events under the sign of EGS. Then we'll find out what platform will prefer and how it will look like a system of competitions, a prize pool will be announced the first contest.

The best thing in this situation is full support for project. Their partners are: Tank One, Technofonds and... KMM Group. The last partner has over 30 small companies(!!!) dealing with marketing, multimedia and knowledge!! Never, the initial design didn't have such a comprehensive organization like this. If the project succeeds, that will be the revolution for e-sport!
