Clanbase doesn' t pay rewards

One of the most popular ligue, which concentrate almost all the multiplayer games was accused of insolvency. The accuser is famous Dutch e-athlete, Manuel "Grubby" Schenkhuizen. The legendary leader of the Orcs hordes in Warcraft III still vainly waiting for the payment of your prize in Clanbase Euro Cup Spring 2007. 24 years old professional from the Netherlands openly criticized the behavior of the creditor on his blog.

"I won Clanbase EuroCup Spring 2007, it’s been 4 years, and they still didn’t pay out my prize money of €2000. Will they ever pay out the prize money? We may never know. I’ve had email contact with them many times, in 2008, 2009 and finally this year, 2011 as well. All they say is that they are in no financial position to pay out the prize money at the moment. You hear that from them over and over again the last 4 years. You just get sent from one staff to another, and hear excuses. Then finally Clanbase stopped replying to my emails. The thing is, the organisation is still around - (http://clanbase.ggl.com/news.php), running tournaments, having sponsors and so on. How can they go about organizing more tournaments when they didn’t even pay out prize moneys to the players from 4 years ago?

Seems crappy, I mean what can a player do? Often those organizations reside in another country. Players would stress themselves out trying to chase their rightful prize and their mentality/career will suffer. Hope for eSports to move into the right direction in this regard as well.."- commented Grubby.

Unfortunately, this is very common situation. Sponsors forget about their obligations and beside players nobody enforce this. We must remember, that the professionalism concern all e-sports, not only players and managers.

  14. I had no idea there was such a crappy story behind that, and I also believe some legal action should be taken. It's a shame that Interpol doesn't intervene in situations like this.

  15. Aw what? Thats horrible. Thy're obviously holding out for some reason. Probably thought he'd just give up after a while. Why would they just repeat that they are in no "financial position" instead of just releasing a statement like "We're bankrupt" or "We lost the money to complications" or whatever. Smells fishy.

  18. 4 years and still no prize money? Something will happen to them, one day and it will be swift and vengeful.
