WCG with Blizzard Games!!

One week ago I informed you about the KeSPA and other Korean e-sports organizations conflict with Blizzard Entertainment. It seems that both sides reached a partial agreement. Why partially? On the official game list isn't one game- Starcraft: Brood War. The organizers of WCG responded immediately:

"We decided to remove StarCraft 1 from our games lineup after a discussion with the gamers from all over the world, as well as the partner companies. Also, as we aim to represent the world's premier gaming tournament, we chose to use StarCraft 2 - as the game is popular worldwide."

Well, now the fans of StarCraft 2 might now sleep peacefully.

We must noted higher position League of Legends in the international area. Last year LoL featured as a promotional title at the WCG, this year however it has been selected as an official title for the first time. Will there be competition for Starcraft and Warcraft?

WCG 2011 game list:

Fighting:
Tekken 6 (Namco Bandai Games)

FPS (First Person Shooter):
Counter-Strike 1.6 (Valve)
Crossfire (Neowiz Games/Smilegate)
Special Force (Dragonfly)

MMORPG (Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game):
World of Warcraft: Cataclysm™ (Blizzard Entertainment)

RTS (Real Time Strategy):
League of Legends (Riot Games)
StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty™ (Blizzard Entertainment)
Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne™ (Blizzard Entertainment)

Sports:
FIFA 11 (Electronic Arts)

What you think about this list :)?

  5. It's a bit weird to see LoL on that list really. I don't think the game is entirely balanced but oh well, it's still a fun game.

  6. CS is the bomb...if something is that good and enjoyable it'll take a long time for people to stop playing

  7. @mac-and-me HELL YEAH Played tekken against a couple of self proclaimed MASTERS AT TEKKEN and i beat the living $hit out of them, never had i played a game so RANDOM well since Smash bros but even then no hope on scoring a win if the other guy knows his stuff. And thats why Super Street Fighter 4 is the True king of all the Fighters

  10. The list is what I would expect to see, it's understandable that they would upgrade SCI to SCII, but I can understand that some fanboys may be mad about it.

  11. I was surprised that LOL has achieved such acclaim in such a short period of time. It would be really ironic if a free downloadable game made it to professional competition at that level!

  12. It's so dominated by Blizzard it's a bit ridiculous. Kind of one sided. Especially because the RTS category is 2/3rds blizzard
